CONCERTS
From classical to Jazz, vocal and instrumental, concerts at CCBC offer every style and period of music. On the campuses and in the community, CCBC musicians bring you quality concerts year-round.
CCBC Chamber Singers
This select choral ensemble, under the direction of CCBC faculty member Monica Otal, will present a concert ranging from classical to contemporary choral music, including holiday selections.

The Jazz Plus Ensemble, under the direction of CCBC faculty member Brian Comotto, will present creative jazz arrangements and music of the holiday season.

Powerhouse Big Band Jazz
Ashton Fletcher leads the Powerhouse Ensemble in selections from the swing era to modern day big band jazz.

Weekly music forums feature professional musicians as well as students and faculty, and are free and open to the public. Music Forums take place each Friday at 12:20pm in the Building E, Recital Hall, at CCBC Essex, unless otherwise noted.

Pictures on Silence
Pictures on Silence, a harp and saxophone chamber duo, explores the diverse musical possibilities of their unique instrumental combination through compelling programming and a dedication to excellence in performance. The ensemble has an ever-expanding repertoire driven by commissioning new works, exploration of repertoire written throughout the twentieth century, and the adaptation of existing music. Harpist Jacqueline Pollauf and saxophonist Dr. Noah Getz each bring a wealth of interpretive experience to the duo, having performed extensively as chamber musicians and soloists throughout the United States.

Robert Cantrell, Bass-Baritone
Robert Cantrell has been described by the Washington Post critic Joseph McLellan as possessing “a warm, supple voice.” He has performed with the Washington National Opera, Baltimore Opera, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and was also a member of The Metropolitan Opera Chorus for several seasons. Mr. Cantrell has toured internationally and appears frequently as recitalist and soloist with choral organizations and orchestras in the Baltimore-Washington area. He will be accompanied by Daniel Lau.

Kinobe & Soul Beat Africa
Kinobe and Soul Beat Africa is the new voice of Ugandan music: the inspired synthesis of African roots and world music, of traditional and modern instrumentation. These musicians represent the new vanguard of Ugandan performers, gifted instrumentalists steeped in the music of their homeland, but with ears opened to the sounds of the world at large. Traditional African instruments blend with guitars and keyboards, drawing on influences from around the globe.

Sonya Hayes, Violin
Washington, DC, based violinist Sonya Hayes plays solo music for violin accompanied by pianist Frank Conlon. Ms. Hayes is in demand as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. She has also performed as soloist with the National Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestras. Her playing has been described as “virtuosic--capable of both great plaintiveness and energetic fire.”

Annapolis Chamber Players
Annapolis Chamber Players specialize in mixed chamber music for winds, strings, and piano. ACP performs classical favorites and lesser-known gems from the Baroque period to the 21st century. Their unique combination of musical colors is enhanced with lively narratives making this most beloved musical genre fun and accessible to all.

The Ashton Fletcher Trio
Renowned jazz musician and CCBC faculty member Ashton Fletcher on bass and vocals is joined by Charlie Edsel on piano, and John Kessell on drums playing music ranging from traditional jazz standards to more contemporary offerings.
November 6
Pop Student Recital
Talented CCBC students will perform pop, jazz, and musical theatre selections.

Maryland State Boychoir
The Maryland State Boychoir, Maryland’s “Official Goodwill Ambassadors,” is comprised of approximately 150 choristers (in various ensembles), ages 7 to 20, who represent a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds. Under their Artistic Director Frank Cimino and Music Director Stephen Holmes, the MSB has performed throughout Maryland and on tours locally, nationally, and internationally. The renowned Norman Scribner (Artistic Director, Choral Arts Society of Washington) states: “Their ravishing tone quality, superb vocal production, and immaculate musicianship sets them apart as one of the premier choirs of this or any area.”
November 20
Animus
Music Forum presents Philadelphia based Animus, performing Eastern Mediterranean world fusion music and dance in conjunction with the World Dance Festival and International Education Week. “This vibrant band is a tree of life: rooted in Greek, Turkish, & Arabic traditions, spreading its Spanish, Latin, African and Indian branches, blossoming with rock, funk, jazz, and blues in bloom.” (Jean Stockdale)
