About the Program

For Over 34 years the CCBC Catonsville has prepared students for a reqarding career in construction. The Construction Management program will help you succeed in jobs with various titles such as construction superintendent, general superintendent, project engineer, project manager, general construction manager, or executive construction manager. You may choose to specialize in areas like estimating, specification writer, or lead scheduler. Those who have completed a craft apprenticeship program will received credit towards the new Construction Craft Professional degree or certificate program. All of the instructors for the program are professionals in the field and bring a rich background to the classes. The Construction Management and Craft Professional programs have statewide designation allowing out-of-county students to pay in-county tuitution.

New Program Approved

The Construction Craft Professional degree program recently received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission. This program provides a method for those who have completed a craft apprenticeship program to gain credits toward a degree or certificate to move into first line supervision.

Grainger "Tools for Tomorrow" Scholarship

For the Second year CCBC Catonsville has partnered with the W.W. Grainger, Inc. Tools for Tomorrow scholarship program. The 2007 recipient is Ms. Cherylle Brown. The scholarship is open to full time, second year, Construction Management majors. Look for the 2008 application in the spring semester.

Construction Management News & Events

• The CCBC Construction Management program welcomes Ms. Susan Castellan, to the adjunct faculty. Ms. Castellan is teaching the CONT151- Construction Planning and Scheduling. Ms. Castellan has 24 years in the construction field and is a senior project manager.
• Scholarship Awarded- For the third year CCBC Construction Management program has participated in Grainger, “Tools for Tomorrow” scholarship program. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Mr. Blair Beal, a Construction Management major. Grainger Inc., an international industrial supply company, has partnered with CCBC and 22 other schools to award the Tools for Tomorrow scholarship. The scholarship is to spot light the construction industry and the educational opportunities in the construction field. Last year’s winner, Ms. Cherylle Brown, was featured in the 2008 Grainger catalog which has a circulation of over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Congratulations to Mr. Beal and Ms. Brown.
• The Building Congress and Exchange Foundation, Inc. has awarded a grant of $5000.00 to the CCBC Construction Management program. The scholarship’s go to students in the Construction Management and Construction Craft Professional degree and certificate programs. Last year 15 students received scholarships from the grant. Awards for this year are being awarded this fall 2008 and spring 2009.
