CCBC Student Information for Proctored Testing
Proctored Testing Policies for Students:
(taking a course test for faculty including make up tests, tests for CCBC distance learning courses, and external testing candidates in need of proctored testing)
Note: Students should read all of the following policy information. If there are any questions, please contact the CCBC Testing Center in your area.
-
Students are not allowed to bring a test to the Testing Centers or to take one away without written consent from the instructor.
-
All tests are assumed closed book and closed notes unless otherwise specified on the instructor's Request Form. If the Request Form is not completely filled out by the instructor, students will not be allowed to use any aids while testing.
-
Any papers, including scrap paper and worksheets, used by the student while taking a test will be collected along with the test and given to the instructor.
-
In accordance with CCBC's academic honesty policy, suspicion of cheating will be documented and reported to the student's instructor. Any evidence of suspected academic dishonesty would be collected and given to the instructor. The instructor will make disciplinary decisions.
-
Students must sign in and present a valid picture ID (CCBC student ID/driver's license) before a test can be administered.
-
Only people actively taking a test are permitted in the Testing Centers. Children and other people accompanying the test taker may wait outside the Testing Centers. CCBC Testing Center staff discourages leaving children unattended.
-
Students are discouraged from leaving the Testing Centers during the test for personal reasons. Personal needs should be attended to before entering the Testing Center.
-
Tobacco products, food, drink, and chewing gum are not allowed in the Testing Centers.
-
Electronic devices such as cell phones and pagers must be turned off and put away before entering the Testing Centers.
Appointment Guidelines
Reminder: You will need to make appointments at the Catonsville and Essex campuses, however, appointments are not necessary at the Dundalk campus.
Students calling or e-mailing to arrange appointments need to be prepared to provide the following information:
-
Name
-
Day, date and time of test request
-
Instructor name
-
Course name
-
Test number
-
Type of test (Make-up, Distance Learning, another college, CLEP or DSST, etc.)
Students must be prepared to provide an alternate test date/time request in the event the initial request date/time is not available.
It is the responsibility of the student to know deadline dates and to test within the dates permitted by the instructor. Information regarding testing, testing directions, the number of questions on the course test/exam and the dates is usually located in the course syllabus or by communicating with the instructor.
Students are discouraged from calling and e-mailing the same request. If this happens, a return reply takes longer. Please e-mail the request only if possible. If students have to call, they may need to leave a message and they will receive a return phone call as soon as possible.
Appointments may need to be arranged three or more business days in advance in order for the student to be scheduled at their desired time. Students calling or emailing to arrange requests within three business days are strongly encouraged to provide an alternate date and time since their desired time may not be available. We discourage leaving phone or e-mail appointment requests on Friday to test on Saturday and Monday. Appointments must be confirmed by the testing staff via e-mail or phone. A return reply to phone or email appointment requests may take 24 hours.
