Mission and vision CCBC provides an accessible, affordable and high-quality education that prepares students for transfer and career success, strengthens the regional work force and enriches the community. The college’s vision is to be “the institution of choice for students, where together we make teaching purposeful, learning powerful, and community paramount.”
CCBC history For 50 years, hundreds of thousands of individuals have begun their academic careers and improved their lives through their CCBC experiences. Since the fall of 1957, when the very first students began taking college classes in local elementary and high schools, a small but dedicated core of faculty and staff established a tradition of quality instruction and student support that conveys to this day.
Now, 50 years later, some 65,000 students annually reap the benefits of a CCBC education. Whether they arrive fresh out of high school or with a more experienced perspective on life, CCBC provides local citizens with opportunities to earn a degree, make a career move, or explore new horizons within an environment that offers a high quality level of instruction and academic support.
CCBC is ranked among the top providers of undergraduate education, workforce development, technology training and lifelong learning/life enrichment in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Through its six academic schools (Schools of Applied and Information Technology; Business, Social Science, Wellness and Education; Health Professions; Justice; Liberal Arts; and Mathematics and Science) and its Continuing Education Division, CCBC offers more than 100 associate degrees as well as certificate level training, certification, and licensure in many areas. CCBC is a preferred training partner for Maryland businesses, serving hundreds of companies annually with customized employee development training.
