The search

The Community College of Baltimore County, the largest provider of higher education in the Baltimore region, has retained Freeman Philanthropic Services, LLC to recruit its new vice president of Institutional Advancement. The vice president will plan and manage the overall infrastructure, growth and advancement of CCBC’s Institutional Advancement agenda, including the development of annual and long-range operational, strategic and fundraising plans.

The vice president will accurately and persuasively advocate for the mission, history and achievement of CCBC, its reality today, and its aspirations for the future. Working closely with the president and her executive team, the Foundation Board, the Board of Trustees, the Alumni Association, and members of both the internal and external communities, the vice president will develop and administer a comprehensive fundraising plan that promotes alumni, individual, foundation and corporate philanthropy.

The demands of the position of vice president of Institutional Advancement call for a unique blend of skills: significant intellect, solid management skills, extensive fundraising experience (including major gifts, annual fund, alumni campaigns, planned giving, and corporate and foundation relations), as well as experience overseeing grants development, marketing, and alumni relations.

The vice president will possess superior relationship-building competencies to proactively engage members of the college’s internal and external communities. Additionally, the vice president will have the demonstrated ability to develop and manage a comprehensive advancement operation; a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, excellence, best practices and diversity; the skills of an excellent communicator; and a sense of humor coupled with an ability to not take himself/herself too seriously.
