Patriotism, pomp, and circumstance were in full force leading up to the 1976 American Revolution Bicentennial. To honor America’s 250th anniversary, we’re travelling back fifty years to Catonsville in the 1970s.
The artifacts and records on display are all part of the Catonsville Historical Society Collection, which was gifted to CCBC in 2022 when the Society disbanded after suffering a flood at their headquarters. The Catonsville Historical Society and the American Bicentennial Committee of Catonsville planned and held many events, created a film about the life of Benjamin Banneker, organized lectures, and coordinated concerts.
This exhibit shows the people, places, and organizations around the city that brought the Spirit of ’76 to our lovely Catonsville.
Join us for a reception celebrating The Spirit of ’76 Fall 2026 Exhibit and the community members who helped preserve this important piece of local history. Light refreshments will be provided.
The exhibit will remain on display through December 31, 2026.
