Remote Sensing and Global Positioning for GIS

Introduces the concepts of remote sensing, use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and interpretation of the collected information by the use of Geographic Information Systems. It covers sensors operating in the visible, infrared, and microwave range of the electro-magnetic spectrum. The use of imaging GIS software for manipulation and image processing of digital satellite data is also emphasized.2 lecture hours and 3 lab hours per week. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.
