AUGUST 2014 EVENTS AT CCBC

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (July 18, 2014) – August is a busy time at the Community College of Baltimore County! Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre wraps its season and celebrates with a Sondheim Gala on August 10! Registration for fall is in full swing and CCBC fall classes begin on Wednesday, August 27. Based on the book by Amanda Brown and the MGM motion picture, this musical comedy follows Elle Wood to Harvard Law to win back her former boyfriend. It proves that you should never underestimate a blonde on a mission!

There’s Always A Woman – according to Stephen Sondheim

“There’s Always a Woman—according to Stephen Sondheim” is a fascinating look at Broadway’s chronicler of womanhood and all its ambiguities. In this savvy, spellbinding performance, singer/actress Carolyn Black-Sotir, along with pianist Timothy McReynolds, and bassist Tom Williams explore the many facets of the Sondheim woman. Black-Sotir shares her insight into the lyricist/composer’s creative process based on her own personal interviews with Stephen Sondheim.

All parking spaces designated by WHITE LINES are available for parking from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.
• Reserved spaces [RED/BLUE/GREEN-LINES] are in effect 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Spaces considered reserved require permits issued by CCBC Public Safety:
o RED-LINED SPACES – Faculty and staff
o BLUE-LINED SPACES – Handicapped
o GREEN-LINED SPACES – Service vehicles

O’ER THE RAMPARTS: A World Premiere of an original historical pageant with music

Celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 with CCBC's original historical pageant and music -- O'er the Ramparts. The pageant focuses on the Battle of North Point and the heroism of ordinary Marylanders in the face of a British invasion. An original production, the book is written and directed by Dr. Anne Lefter, director of Performing Arts at CCBC, with music and lyrics by Dr. William Watson, professor of Music and dean of the School of Liberal Arts. The Baltimore Symphonic Band, conducted by Dr. Chris Wolfe, emeritus professor of Music at CCBC and member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will provide live music for O’er the Ramparts. CCBC is delighted to sponsor this event as a gift to the community and is underwriting its production.

*The John E. Ravekes Theatre at CCBC Dundalk is fully accessible. Please ask for accommodations when you request tickets.
