Nursing Program Outcomes

The CCBC Nursing Program has identified four key quality indicators with expected levels of achievement that state:

  1. 85% of the program graduates will pass the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt.
  2. 70% of the students who begin the program will successfully complete the program within three calendar years from the date of entry.
  3. 75% of students at graduation and nine months after graduation express satisfaction with the Nursing program.
  4. 90% of the graduate survey respondents will be employed as entry-level practitioners within nine months of graduation.

In accordance with the requirements established by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Association of Science in nursing program at CCBC is pleased to report on student achievement outcome data in the tables below.

Graduates' success of licensure exam

Graduates’ success on licensure exams is a significant benchmark for any nursing program. Graduates success is calculated by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) by the number of graduates who are successful on passing the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt.

Graduates’ success on licensure exam (NCLEX-RN):

Exam 2015 2014 2013
CCBC pass rate for NCLEX-RN* 86.5% 90.94% 91.34%

Required minimum MBON pass rate for NCLEX-RN 74.28% 74.03% 78.33%
*Pass rates reported by Maryland Board of Nursing are calculated by the fiscal year (July 1-June 30) and combine partial results from two classes. Some taker from states outside of Maryland, may be absent from these results.
