Early College Program @ Woodlawn comes to CCBC

BCPS students spend week at CCBC preparing for new magnet program

The inaugural class of the Early College Program @ Woodlawn High School spent a week this summer at CCBC Catonsville to prepare for the new magnet program that starts fall 2017. The Early College Program @ Woodlawn is the first of its kind in Baltimore County and will enable students to graduate from high school with both their diploma and an associate degree.

CCBC and Baltimore County Public Schools partnered to bring this new Early College Program to fruition. During the summer prep week, students engaged in classes, campus tours, testing and team building activities and were inducted into the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) college-readiness program.

Currently, there are 90 students accepted into the Early College Program @ Woodlawn. During 9th and 10th grades, CCBC courses will be taught at Woodlawn High School. A majority of the coursework will be taught at CCBC Catonsville during the students’ 11th and 12th grade years.

There is no cost to attend the Early College Program @ Woodlawn. Transportation, tuition, books and fees are included. It’s a great opportunity to get a jump-start on college!
