Our FYE programs can help you find your footing, connect with peers and feel at home in the CCBC community. From academic success resources to personalized mentorship, FYE sets you up to thrive in your first year and step confidently into the rest of your college journey.
All first-year students are paired with a peer mentor during their first semester. You can meet with your mentor on a regular basis or check in from time-to-time - it's up to you! Not only have these experienced student mentors been in your shoes, but they've successfully navigated CCBC life, campus resources and college classes. Think of them as your CCBC go-to-guide.
Academic Development 101 is a one-credit FYE class designed to help you navigate CCBC. As an orientation requirement, it is best to take this class in your first semester at CCBC. Why? Through (ACDV) you'll develop an educational plan, discover academic pathways and programs, explore transfer opportunities and get to know CCBC on a whole new level.
Learn about campus resources that can help you with your academic and personal growth. From testing and advising to career services and transfer opportunities, there's plenty of supports at CCBC and our FYE initiatives will help you find them. You'll learn exactly where to go, who to talk to and how to make the most of the tools available to our CCBC students.
College isn't just about classes, it's about connection. FYE encourages you to get involved, meet new people and explore your interest by showcasing CCBC's co-curricular clubs, student organizations and campus events! FYE fosters a sense of belonging so that you can grow as a leader, collaborator and engaged member of the CCBC community.
