Baltimore County, MD – In conjunction with Medical Laboratory Professionals Week – April 24-30, 2016, the Medical Laboratory Technology program at the Community College of Baltimore County will host Open House and Career Exploration Sessions Wednesday, April 27, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and again 5-7 p.m., in Room 203 of the Administration Building at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard, Rosedale.
CCBC’s School of Health Professions offers an associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Medical Laboratory Technology designed to prepare students for careers in the highly complex arena of laboratory medicine.
The Medical Laboratory Technology program at CCBC is a full time 66-credit program which includes 18 credits of prerequisites to be completed prior to admission. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the Board Certification (BOC) exam given by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
The April 27 event will include a tour the college’s state-of-the-art laboratory facility, opportunities to meet with current MLT students, a discussion on career options and opportunities in the field as well as a chance to examine laboratory procedures performed by staff.
“According to the literature, more than 70 percent of medical decisions are based on information provided by a Medical Laboratory Professional,” remarks MLT Program Director Candice Grayson. “Students who excel in the field like to solve problems, are detail-oriented and patient focused. If you have an interest in science, yet are unsure of the potential careers, I encourage you to attend and explore the lab.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact Darlene Hicks at 443-840-1780 or at email@example.com.
