Student Employment Opportunities at CCBC
CCBC participates in the federal work-study program (FWS). CCBC also
offers employment through the Institutional Work-study Program.
Interested students should contact the Financial Aid Office of the
campus they wish to attend. Student employment is awarded beginning each
May for the upcoming academic year and awards are made on a first-in
first-out basis until all funds are depleted.
Students may be eligible to work up to 20 hours per week during the
school year or in some cases, full-time during the summer and winter
sessions. A student cannot work more than the total amount of aid
awarded.
After students are awarded federal work study or institutional
employment, they will need to complete various employment forms. They
will be directed to the Student Employment Bulletin Board in the Job
Placement office to identify jobs for which they will qualify. Students
can be sent for an interview with the supervisor of that position.
Other important things to know about student employment are:
-
The academic year runs between July 1 and June 30.
-
Students will be told on their financial aid award letter the amount
they can earn.
-
Students who are awarded for the fall semester can begin their
employment as early as July 1. Students awarded for the spring
semester can begin employment on January 1.
-
Students are paid at least the minimum wage and, beginning July 1,
2006, will be earning $8.00 per hour.
-
Students are compensated bi-weekly for hours worked during the
preceding two weeks. Unlike grants, scholarships, and loans, awarded
employment will not defer your tuition payment.
-
Employment opportunities are offered both on and off campus.
Off-campus experiences include working in local libraries, elementary
schools, police departments and social services offices
