Practical Nursing Certificate

The Practical Nursing program is a certificate program designed to prepare students for entry-level nursing roles. Through classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, you’ll learn essential nursing skills to assist registered nurses, physicians and other healthcare professionals.

  • Offered at the Dundalk campus.
  • New cohorts start every spring, summer and fall.
  • Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).

LPN to RN Transition

  • For licensed practical nurses with a valid Maryland LPN license.
  • Start in the fall semester with a transition course at CCBC Dundalk, then join the third semester of the RN program.

If you are interested in CCBC's LPN to RN bridge program on the Dundalk campus and are applying for a fall cohort, you have the opportunity for dual enrollment at Stevenson University.

Associate Degree Nursing (RN)

Earn your Associate of Science (A.S.) in Nursing and prepare for a career as a Registered Nurse (RN). All options lead to the same degree and eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN exam.

  • Day Cohort: Offered at Catonsville and Essex with fall and spring admission. Classes held during the day.
  • Evening/Weekend Cohort: Offered at Essex in the fall. Designed for working students, with in-person classes and labs on evenings and weekends.
  • Online/Blended Cohort: Offered at Catonsville with fall and spring admission. Combines online coursework with in-person labs and clinicals—ideal for independent, flexible learners.

In appreciation of your service, CCBC offers a dedicated A.S. Nursing cohort for licensed EMTs and military veterans. Participants in this cohort compete only among themselves for admission and placement.

Associate to Bachelor’s (ATB)

Earn your associate and bachelor’s degrees at the same time through CCBC’s ATB partnerships, with options at our Catonsville or Essex campuses.

Dual-admission partnership

Offered at the Catonsville and Essex campuses, the CCBC/UMSON partnership offers dual admission for nursing students. Eligible students can take select UMSON courses tuition-free while still at CCBC. Before applying, students must meet with their CCBC ATB Coordinator to check if they qualify. Students must have completed their first term at CCBC and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Option for LPN to RN

Students who have successfully completed the LPN to RN transition course may earn an associate and bachelor’s degree at the same time through CCBC’s partnership with Stevenson University. Offered at CCBC Dundalk in the fall. See LPN to RN tab for more details.
