Family Literacy Program at CCBC
Want to learn English and learn about your children’s school? Attend a Family Literacy ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) placement and registration session. This program is designed for non-native English speaking parents.
Registrations are in-person only; no online, phone or mail-in registration.
- These classes are designed to help parents learn English language skills for life, work and to help with their child’s education.
- New students must take a test.
- No family or friends are allowed inside the room (only registering students).
- First-come, first-served basis (allow for up to 3 hours). Classes fill up quickly!
- All students need a smartphone.
Cost
- Classes are free (grant-funded).*
- After enrolling, you must buy a textbook and workbook, available at any CCBC campus bookstore.
Eligibility
- You must have a child aged 0–16 living in your home who is either attending a Baltimore County Public School, a partner private school or the Judy Center of Baltimore County.
- You must be at least 18 years old and officially withdrawn from high school.
- *F-1 or J-1 visa holders are not eligible.
Class Details
- Complete class schedules and locations will be provided at registration.
- In-person classes will run from September-November.
- Morning or evening classes will be held two times per week, for a total of 20 classes.
