CATONSVILLE, MD [May 20, 2025] – Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is proud to announce Isaac Njoroge as the 2025 President's Distinguished Graduate. In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, leadership and commitment to community engagement, Isaac will also serve as the commencement speaker for the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony.
Originally from Kenya, Njoroge's journey to CCBC is a testament to his determination and pursuit of educational excellence. Drawn to CCBC's accessible, affordable and high-quality education, Njoroge has thrived both academically and personally. He will graduate with a degree in information technology, maintaining an impressive 3.93 GPA while balancing a rigorous course load as a student-athlete.
“I chose CCBC because it offered a strong academic foundation and a welcoming environment that helped me feel at home,” said Njoroge. “I was looking for a college that supported students from different backgrounds and CCBC stood out to me for its affordability, resources and the care shown by professors and staff to support student success.”
Beyond his academic success, Njoroge has actively embraced leadership roles at CCBC. He is involved in the Honors College, Phi Theta Kappa, the CCBC Catonsville men's basketball team and the Male Student Success Initiative (MSSI). The nonprofit organization Achieving the Dream also selected Njoroge as one of eight students chosen from the U.S., New Zealand and South Africa into the DREAM Scholars program. He was the first CCBC student to ever receive this honor which immersed him in an experiential learning opportunity focused on leadership, critical thinking and networking. His involvement in these diverse activities showcases his commitment to both personal growth and supporting his fellow students.

"His dedication to his studies, his engagement within and outside of the CCBC community and his inspiring personal journey make him an exceptional choice as our President's Distinguished Graduate. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments."
Njoroge’s experiences navigating a new culture and overcoming financial barriers have fueled his quest for excellence and his desire to create opportunities for others. He volunteers with the Police Athletic League, mentoring children and supporting their academic and social development. His future aspirations include pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in cybersecurity, with the aim of leveraging his skills to bridge the digital divide in underserved communities both in the U.S. and Kenya.
In addition to the honor of being named President's Distinguished Graduate, Njoroge will also receive a $2,500 transfer scholarship to support his continued education at the four-year college of his choice. He views his career pursuit in technology as a bridge for creating increased digital access and opportunity to others.
CCBC’s Commencement ceremony is scheduled at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at CCBC Essex. Njoroge’s address is highly anticipated as he shares his inspiring story and insights with his fellow graduates and the wider community.
