Baltimore County, MD (Oct. 10, 2025) — The Gallery at CCBC Essex proudly presents “Threads of Connection: Diverse Voices in Contemporary Fiber,” a dynamic exhibition celebrating the innovative work of contemporary fiber artists. On display from Sept. 29 through Nov. 7, the exhibit invites visitors to explore how traditional craft techniques meet contemporary narratives through the medium of fiber.

Curated by Joy Davis, Threads of Connection showcases works by seven powerful voices in fiber art: Sam Green, Ajee Hassan, Shannon Pyles, Tyler Sanville, Jessica Walton, Ania Wilton, and Phyllis Zhu. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the show, using textiles, stitching, and sculptural forms to examine identity, culture, memory, and community.

The public is invited to two special events celebrating the exhibition and its artists:

  • Brunch Reception: Oct. 22, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Evening Reception: Oct. 23, 6 – 8 p.m.

Both receptions will be held in The Gallery at CCBC Essex, located in the Arts and Humanities Hall, Room 140. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, hear about their creative processes, and experience the artwork up close.

Threads of Connection reflects a wide spectrum of fiber practices—quilting, weaving, embroidery, and experimental forms—each contributing to a collective exploration of identity, community, and craft. The exhibition highlights how fiber art transcends disciplines to preserve stories and push boundaries, offering new ways of seeing and creating.

Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit www.ccbcmd.edu/galleries.
