Transfer Students Applying for Veterans Benefits

If you have used VA Benefits at another institution:

Veterans and Military Personnel

  1. Chapters 33, 30, 1606, and 1607, complete the VA form Request for Change of Program or Place of Training, (Form 22-1995) to declare a new school and new program of study. You may obtain a transfer student packet from the CCBC VA office or the form can be downloaded from the VA website. Also, submit the DD-214 or NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility). Important note: Per VA Regulations submit a copy of your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the CCBC VA Office.
  2. Complete the CCBC Veterans Request for VA Educational Benefits Certification form.
  3. Once registered for classes, submit a copy of the schedule / bill and any copies of all academic advising paperwork
  4. Submit and forward all paperwork to your CCBC VA Office. Attn: VA Certifying Official.
  5. Submit all official transcripts to the CCBC Registrar Office for evaluation of prior credits and or training, per VA Regulations, failure to complete will affect the VA Certification of Enrollment.
  6. For Chapter 33, Post 9/11 GI Bill® recipients, student is required to advise VA Certifying Official of Class registration and request a special VA HOLD to protect registration status.

Survivors and Dependents

  1. Chapter 35, Complete the VA Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance, (Form 22-5495) to declare a new school and new program. You may obtain a Chapter 35, transfer student packet from the CCBC VA office or the form can be downloaded from the VA website. Important note: Per VA Regulations submit a copy of your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the CCBC VA Office.
  2. Complete and submit the CCBC Veterans Request for VA Educational Benefits Certification form.
  3. Once registered for classes, submit a copy of the Schedule / Bill and all copies of all Academic advising paperwork.
  4. Submit and forward all paperwork to your CCBC VA Office. Attn.: VA Certifying Official.
  5. Submit all official transcripts to the CCBC Registrar Office for evaluation of prior credits and or training, per VA Regulations, failure to comply with this requirement will affect the VA Certification of Enrollment.

For students eligible for Post 9/11 GI Bill®: Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship Student is required to advise VA Certifying Official of Class registration and request a special VA HOLD to protect registration status.
