About Stevenson University (SU)

Stevenson University was founded in 1947 as Villa Julie College. In 2008, the college adopted the name Stevenson University to reflect its growing size, expanding mission and breadth of academic offerings. Serving over 2,700 undergraduate students, as well as nearly 900 online students, the university is committed to providing exceptional experiences, a connection to career and a community centered on student success.

Stevenson offers over 0 majors, minors and tracks including pre-professional tracks in dentistry, law, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy and veterinary medicine. Stevenson Online offers 27 online master’s and bachelor's degree programs for working adults.

General transfer information

Stevenson will accept up to 70 credits from two-year institutions. Up to 90 credits can be applied to degree requirements from a combination of two-year institutions, four-year institutions and non-direct classroom instruction (including CLEP, AP and other nationally recognized standardized examination scores. Students intending to transfer should complete the admission application for Stevenson once they complete 45 credits of the associate degree program. Students should contact the Financial Aid Office at Stevenson as soon as possible regarding college deadlines for financial aid. Students who have completed an associate degree at a Maryland community college are guaranteed admissions to Stevenson.

Complete your associate degree at CCBC and transfer your credits seamlessly to earn your bachelor’s degree at SU thanks to the Degrees to Succeed program.

  • Dual admission to CCBC and Stevenson University. 
  • Co-advising by Stevenson to ensure CCBC courses align with your chosen program.
  • Access to select facilities, programs, and events at Stevenson using an SU ID Card.
  • Acceptance of transfer credits for Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) and select AAS degree programs (Accounting, Criminal Justice Studies, Legal Studies, Cybersecurity, Human Services, and Digital Media).
  • Junior standing upon transfer with registration appointment to enroll in classes with other Stevenson students with junior status.
  • Acceptance of up to forty-five (45) credits in transfer through CCBC’s documented prior learning and high school articulation agreements that also meet the qualifying scores or academic review approval required by Stevenson University.   • Eligible for a $2000 yearly Degrees to Succeed Scholarship for up to 2 years of full-time study and other Stevenson transfer scholarships.
  •  Waiver of Stevenson University application fee.
Note: Admission into Stevenson University does not guarantee admission to screened majors that require a separate application process and may require additional pre-requisite courses.
  • Enrolled in a degree program at CCBC after obtaining a high school diploma or equivalency;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater for credits completed at CCBC; and
  • Complete an Acknowledgement Form during the first 45 credits at CCBC of the intent to attend Stevenson.

  2. Complete the acknowledgement form, which outlines the student checklist, program requirements, and permission to share your academic information with 4 Year.
  3. Submit the completed acknowledgement form.
  4. CCBC will submit the completed Acknowledgement Form to Stevenson University.
  5. Stevenson will contact you regarding the next steps to enroll in the program.

Stevenson benefits GPA requirement

Satisfy all of Stevenson’s general education requirements, with the exception of a second composition course if not already taken.

General education block transfer allows students to focus on coursework in their major once at Stevenson, provides more flexibility in course scheduling and helps ensure timely completion of their bachelor’s degree.

Any associate degree

Courses that fulfill program requirements are only eligible for transfer if students have earned a grade of “C” or better. Courses used to fulfill only general education requirements are eligible for transfer if students have earned a grade of “D” or better.

Please contact the Admissions Office to discuss how this block transfer option could benefit you. Stevenson also participates in the Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities (ARTSYS), which allows students in Maryland community colleges to determine how individual courses transfer to Stevenson and to look at recommended transfer plans. Community college students should also work with their transfer counselors to help select classes that will optimize credit transfer.
