CCBC 2019 graduate Ashka Talati made the most of her time at CCBC. She actually completed her associate degree in ONE year verses two. And, thanks to Baltimore County’s College Promise scholarship, she graduated debt-free.

Ashka graduated from Perry Hall High School in 2018 and two days after graduation, she enrolled at CCBC taking four summer classes. Having seen how CCBC helped a few of her former Perry Hall graduates excel, Ashka thought it would be a great place for her to start.

When Ashka enrolled at CCBC that summer, she wasn’t aware of the Baltimore County College Promise Program and her family found managing tuition challenging. But thankfully, a conversation in the Financial Aid office turned things around which led to Ashka receiving the scholarship moving forward.

Having the scholarship allowed Ashka to attend CCBC full-time and concentrate on her studies without the financial worries normally associated with college. She believes the Baltimore County College Promise Program helped her complete her associated degree in record time.

The Baltimore County College Promise Program helped me believe in myself,” said Ashka. “I believed the sky was the limit since money [for tuition] was not as much of a problem anymore."

Today Ashka is at the University of Maryland, College Park majoring in Business Analytics and Minoring in Public Policy. She ultimately wants to go to law school.
