Azaria Gallo
CCBC 2017 Graduate
”CCBC has definitely helped me grow as a leader. I’ve developed my listening skills and become a better communicator.”
Azaria Gallo moved from Ethiopia to the United States during his last semester in high school. Graduating from Patapsco High School in 2014, he entered CCBC not knowing what to expect. But, he was determined to make the most of his college experience.
“My time in high school in the U. S. was short, so I didn’t have the opportunity to really get involved. I vowed things would be different when I entered college,” said Azaria.
Initially Azaria was quiet and shy, but he quickly got acclimated to life at CCBC and began to take advantage of activities outside of the classroom.
Azaria served on the Student Honors Council and the Multicultural Student Association. He was also a Student Ambassador and held officer positions for Phi Theta Kappa. He said getting involved helped him develop qualities he didn’t even know he had.
After earning his associate degree at CCBC, Azaria now pursues a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at UMBC. He is also a system administrator for UMBC’s Division of Information Technology.
