Adolescent Behavioral Health Counseling Certificate, Credit Certificate
The Adolescent Behavioral Health Certificate is designed for students in Human Services Counseling who are interested in specializing in adolescent and/or family counseling. This 21-credit program can be completed in a relatively short period of time, particularly for students who have earned a degree or certificate in Human Services Counseling. Students often earn this certificate along the path to pursuing the A.A.S. degree in Human Services Counseling.
Program objectives
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- utilize a variety of counseling skills relevant to behavioral health counseling with adolescents and their families;
- assess and document a client's current status and apply age-appropriate and culturally-relevant therapeutic techniques;
- develop, prioritize, and implement a plan to address a client's or family's presenting problem;
- conduct themselves professionally and ethically as counselors in culturally-diverse settings; and,
- express themselves professionally, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences, including clients, other professionals, and external monitoring agencies.
