The Nursing Program at CCBC is the premier, learning-centered, Associate Degree Nursing Program in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area.
The Nursing graduate is educated in a learning-centered environment, which is committed to optimal use of available resources and emphasizes the diversity of the surrounding community. Additionally, graduates are prepared to enter the health care workforce and are eligible for licensure as a registered nurse. Congruent with the CCBC mission, a commitment to lifelong learning and educational mobility is fostered through the curriculum.
The Nursing ATB option provides a dual enrollment opportunity to students accepted into the CCBC Nursing Program.
Qualified Associate Degree Nursing Students will be able to begin coursework for the B.S. degree in Nursing at one of four participating universities while enrolled in the CCBC A.S. Degree Nursing Program.
Each partner determines their own prerequisites, curriculum and policies. The information sheets will help you to determine which partner is the best fit for you and it contains contact information for the university advisors.
Students can complete the B.S. degree in Nursing in approximately 2-3 additional terms following completion of the A.S. degree. Separate applications are required for each selected university partner.

The CCBC/University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) partnership provides a dual admission opportunity for qualified nursing students who may apply to the option any time after successful completion of the first term of the CCBC Nursing Program. Admission guarantees matriculation to the UMSON’s RN to BSN Program upon completion of the CCBC A.S. Degree Nursing Program provided the student maintains at least a 3.0 GPA. Accepted students may choose to take some selected UMSON BSN courses free of tuition cost as a “special student” while in the CCBC Nursing Program. Time to complete the BSN varies based on when a student begins coursework and whether the A.S. degree graduate pursues full or part-time study at UMSON.
Current CCBC Nursing students are required to meet with their CCBC campus ATB Coordinator to determine eligibility for this option before they may apply.
The day program is available at both the Catonsville and Essex campuses and admission occurs for both fall and spring every year.
The traditional day-time nursing program courses are generally offered as two days of in-class work and one day per week for skills practice and testing in the lab. On-site clinical can be one to two days per week..
The day-time program operates on a regular 15-week semester schedule. The application deadlines are January 31 and August 15. Approximately 56 to 64 students are accepted at each campus for both spring and fall.
The evening/weekend RN program is designed for students who are unable to attend the traditional day time classes. Students come to campus a minimum of 3 days per week.
The evening/weekend program is offered only at the Essex campus, and admission occurs only in the fall semester. The application deadline is January 31. Approximately 40 students are accepted each fall.
The online blended RN program is offered only on the Catonsville campus and admission occurs in the spring and fall semesters. Applications for admission are due by August 15. The didactic portion of the program is provided online through independent learning modules. Students must attend weekly seminar/laboratory sessions as well as attend weekly clinical experiences.
The LPN to RN Transition program, or the LPN Bridge program, is designed as a pathway for licensed practical nurses to bridge into the registered nurse program. Applicants must have a valid Maryland LPN license. Students complete prerequisite courses and apply for admission by May 31. The Transition course is provided on the Dundalk campus and offered each fall. Upon successful completion of the Transition course, students articulate into the third semester of the RN program. The RN program is conducted on the Catonsville and Essex campuses.
The Practical Nursing (PN) program is a twelve-month, three semester, 46 credit certificate program comprised of 12 courses designed to provide theoretical and clinical study in nursing that will enable students to assist other health care professionals, such as registered nurses and physicians, and work as members of a health care team. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN). The Practical Nursing program is offered only at the Dundalk campus and admits a cohort every spring, summer and fall.
The Registered Nursing for Emergency Medical Service & Military Personnel is designed as a pathway for EMS and Military Service-members to join the registered nurse program. Applicants must show that they are current EMT or higher or that they have served in the US Military.
Students complete all 70 credits of the coursework and clinical hours to qualify for the Associate Degree in Nursing. This cohort admits into either the day, blended or evening/weekend options of the RN program on either the Catonsville or Essex campuses. The application is available twice a year for both a fall and a spring start. Applicants may only select one RN option for admission consideration.
You may only apply to one Nursing program campus per start/semester. We will only process one Nursing application. The application fee is not refundable. You may not apply to both the Essex and Catonsville RN programs for the same semester.
Note: Applicants who are accepting a seat into the Practical or Registered Nursing programs are required to pay a non-refundable $200 seat fee in order to accept their offer of admission and reserve their space in the program. The fee will be applied to the student account after the first several weeks of class. Students who accept the seat and then do not attend the program will not be eligible for a refund of the fee.

Collect pertinent materials like unofficial transcripts for all US college‐level coursework and testing completed. Use these to help you complete the application.
If you have never before applied through the SHP CAS system, then create an account in SHP CAS through the applicant portal and follow the directions to complete the applications.
If you applied using the SHP CAS System before, then login and verify that all areas are correct. If you have taken additional courses, you must add them and send an official transcript showing the completed or in‐progress courses.
Once all sections of the application have a green check mark, you will be able to pay the $50 non‐refundable application fee. It is better to submit the application at least a month before the application deadline.
Submit your official US college transcripts, including CCBC, electronically to the SHP CAS. This can be done in the Academic History portion of the SHP CAS application. Under each college attended, there is an Order button. Click on that and you will be able to access the transcript companies to request the transcript(s).
If your college only sends hard copies through the mail, include the Transcript Request Form found in the Academic History quadrant of the SHP CAS application. The form connects your transcript to your application account. Both documents should be mailed to:

CLEP, AP and non-US college transcript evaluations (AACRAO. WES, etc.) should be sent directly to the CCBC Registrar’s office, for transfer of credit to occur. Complete the Transfer Evaluation Request Form to ensure that your submitted transcripts will be evaluated.
It can take four to six weeks for any transcript to be received, evaluated and verified. Check your SHP CAS account frequently, by clicking on the “Check Status” button. It is better to send all transcripts as soon as possible.

After you submit your SHP CAS application and it is verified, the SHP Admission Office will send an email requesting that a supplemental application be completed. There is no additional fee associated with the supplemental application.
Expect communication regarding your application to the email address that you entered into the SHP CAS.

Graduates’ success on licensure exams is a significant benchmark for any nursing program. Graduates success is calculated by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) by the number of graduates who are successful on passing the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt.
