Degrees to Succeed

Complete your associate degree at CCBC and transfer credits seamlessly to earn your bachelor’s degree at UMBC, thanks to the Degrees to Succeed program.

Degrees to Succeed

  • Dual admission to CCBC and UMBC. 
  • Co-advising by UMBC to ensure your CCBC courses align with your chosen bachelor's degree. 
  • Access to campus facilities and services at UMBC using a UMBC Campus ID Card.
  • Acceptance of all transfer credits for Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degree programs.
  • Junior status upon transfer, with priority registration for New Student Orientation and housing.
  • Automatic membership to UMBC’s Transfer Student Alliance (TSA) for qualified students.
  • Eligibility for the UMBC Degrees to Succeed $1,000 merit scholarship for two years of full-time study at UMBC.
  • Waiver of the $75 UMBC application fee.
  • Earned high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in an associate degree program at CCBC.
  • Earned no more than 35 credits (including transfer credit, prior learning or high school/dual enrollment).
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
  1. Discuss this program with your academic advisor to verify your eligibility to participate.
  2. Submit the acknowledgement form, which outlines the student checklist, program requirements and permission to share your academic information with UMBC.
  3. CCBC will submit the completed acknowledgement form to UMBC.
  4. UMBC will contact you regarding the next steps to enroll in the program.

Transfer Alliance

The Transfer Student Alliance (TSA) is a member benefit program for students intending to complete an associate degree at CCBC prior to transferring to UMBC.

Before transfer, students receive:

  • $75 transfer admission application fee waiver.
  • 25% tuition discount for one concurrent UMBC course per semester*.
  • UMBC Campus ID Card.
  • Access to UMBC’s campus facilities and services, including the computer labs and libraries.
  • Participation in cultural and recreational student activities at UMBC

After transfer, eligible students are guaranteed:

  • Admission to UMBC’s undergraduate programs.
  • An annual $1,500 merit scholarship for up to two years.
  • On-campus housing (UMBC’s main campus only).
  • Priority advising and registration at New Student Orientation

*Available after the completion of 12 credits or more in good academic standing at a participating community college; not to exceed a total of three discounted courses.

GPA of a 3.0 or better.

Honors College

Transfer students from the CCBC Honors College are guaranteed admissions to the Honors College at UMBC.

  • Applied to UMBC by the published priority deadline.
  • Admitted to UMBC as a degree-seeking student.
  • Applied to the Honors College by the published deadline.
  • Confirmation is received by UMBC, prior to matriculation at UMBC, that the student has met the requirements of the CCBC Honors Program.
  • Completed a certificate and/or an associate degree from CCBC prior to enrollment at UMBC.
  • Has earned at least a 3.7 cumulative GPA at the time of the application to the Honors College at UMBC. (Students may be eligible for admission to the Honors College with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater, but only students with a 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher are guaranteed admission to the Honors College.)
