Distance Learning

Before Registering for an Online Class

Step 1: Assess your readiness for online learning.

Take this quick Self Assessment Test to help you determine how well distance learning courses fit your personal circumstances and characteristics.

Step 2: Check the technical requirements for online courses.

Go to the Technical Requirements page to make sure that your computer meets the basic system requirements for CCBC online courses.

Step 3: Review the course description and instructor information for the courses that interest you.

Go back to the CCBC Online Classes page and click on the appropriate class schedule.

Scroll down the alphabetical list of online courses to find those that interest you. Pay close attention to the course description; many of the online courses are delivered in a "blended" format, meaning that there are required, regularly scheduled class meeting dates, while some may have other on-site requirements. Review the CCBC Course Format Definitions for a full explanation of the various formats.

Click on the underlined 5-digit CRN number to access the catalog description and prerequisites for the course. You will also find the instructor's name and contact information, if the instructor has been assigned. Feel free to contact the instructor with any course-specific questions.

Step 4: Register for courses.

Apply for admission to CCBC if you are not a currently enrolled student.

Meet with an advisor to select the course or courses that meet your educational goals.

Register for the course or courses you have selected.

If you are registering online through the CCBC Online Information System (SIMON) and have questions or problems with the system, please contact the CCBC Help Desk.
