Community College of Baltimore County has added a new degree option within the School of Liberal Arts – Digital Media Production. Within this degree, students can explore the technical and artistic development in digital media using video cameras, computers and other electronic tools.

A quickly growing industry, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says employment in this industry is expected to rise 14 percent between 2008 and 2018. And, the median income within the field is within the upper 50s.

According to Michael Walsh, chair of the Communication Arts department, “More and more we see digital media becoming a driving force within business and industry. Companies are no longer bound to tangible art to tell their stories. With digital media, there’s a wealth of technical and artistic tools at their fingertips that allow companies to create products that are engaging and have a greater reach.”

Digital Media Production students will have the opportunity to learn how to use GoPRO and DSLR cameras, studio lights, professional microphones, audio mixers, video switchers and more. They will learn how to write and shoot films and corporate videos, create a web portfolio, record voice-over and even intern with local businesses.

Classes in Digital Media Production begin this fall. Register today or contact Mumtaj Ismail at mismail@ccbcmd.edu for more information.
