The scholarship will support currently enrolled full and part-time CCBC students majoring in business and accounting and thereby continue Gandy’s legacy and contributions to education.
Laurence Aaronson, former professor emeritus of Business Studies at CCBC and president of the Kathleen Gandy Impact Foundation said, “The Gandy Foundation Scholarship Fund is reflective of Dr. Gandy's love for her students, the college and her impact on lives and the community. We are excited about creating this scholarship fund to help both full and part-time students who are committed to obtaining their associate degrees and achieving their personal career objectives.”
Before her passing, Gandy was known as not only a CCBC professor; but a mentor, colleague, social advocate, global educator and Girl Scout leader. During her tenure, Gandy participated in international service learning and then moved from participant to leader, taking on the role of faculty advisor and leading students on several trips to Belize. Gandy also became the faculty advisor for the CCBC Chapter of Enactus (previously called Students in Free Enterprise) and then inspired the students to enter a regional competition, for which they won first runner-up.
The Dr. Kathleen Gandy Impact Foundation, Inc. is committed to honoring the spirit of Dr. Kathleen Gandy by honoring those who are making a difference in the community, funding research to fight cancer, and encouraging educational opportunities for all.
