A Catonsville, Md. resident, Wayne G. McDowell has been the president and owner of McDowell's Complete Chimney Service, Inc. since 1978 and an associate at Viridian Electric Energy since 2010. He is a retired lieutenant with the Baltimore City Fire Department.
McDowell is a certified member of the Chimney Safety Institute of America, National Chimney Sweep Guild, National Fireplace Institute, and is licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission. He is vice president of the Lansdowne Business and Professional Association, and is active in the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, Catonsville Business Builders and Arbutus Business and Professional Association.
A CCBC (then Catonsville Community College) alumnus, McDowell earned associate degrees in both General Studies and Fire Service Technology. He also took classes at University of Maryland, University College and the University of Baltimore. He is a proud graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School (Baltimore, Md.), stays involved in the school's Alumni Association and has served on the Cardinal Gibbons Board of Directors.
McDowell is also a member of the St. Agnes Hospital Foundation Board, St. Augustine Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic with the Fifth Special Forces Group, the Green Berets, completing a tour of duty in Viet Nam in the early 1970s.
