Azaria Gallo moved from Ethiopia to the United States during his last semester in high school. Graduating from Patapsco High School in 2014, he entered CCBC not knowing what to expect. But, he was determined to make the most of his college experience.
CCBC Student Ambassador
“My time in high school in the U. S. was short, so I didn’t have the opportunity to really get involved. I vowed things would be different when I entered college,” said Azaria.
Initially Azaria was quiet and shy, but he quickly got acclimated to life at CCBC and began to take advantage of activities outside of the classroom.
Azaria joined the Student Honors Council and the Multicultural Student Association. He also became a Student Ambassador and held officer positions for Phi Theta Kappa. He said getting involved helped him develop qualities he didn’t even know he had.
”CCBC has definitely helped me grow as a leader. I’ve developed my listening skills and become a better communicator.”
Today, Azaria describes choosing CCBC as “the best decision he ever made,” and encourages others to not only take advantage of its affordable, quality education, but to also get involved in activities which for him expanded his network of friends and experiences.
“I’ve gotten to meet and work with so many students and faculty members and it’s been an amazing journey. Once I dove in and engaged myself in the campus community, I realized how much of an awesome community I really have. Not only have I found friends here at CCBC, I have found a family too.”
