With the fluid situation of COVID-19, CCBC is offering a variety of learning options to meet current realities and the needs of our students. These options include variants of online, blended and on-site course formats.

Which course format is right for you?
Learn more about each of these formats to help you determine which is the best fit.

Online

This is a format in which all the requirements are completed online in an asynchronous format. Physical presence does not take place on-site.

All materials for the course are delivered through Blackboard, CCBC’s online learning management system. You will login to Blackboard to access lessons, submit assignments, participate in class discussions and more.

To be successful in your online course, you should log into Blackboard regularly and establish a study schedule. Plan to spend at least the same amount of time that you would spend on a face-to-face class, if not more. Give yourself time to practice using Blackboard in order to get the most out of your online learning experience.

Technical requirements
To learn online at CCBC you will need:
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy.
  • Regular access to a reliable computer desktop or laptop.
    • Mobile devices, tablets and Chromebooks should not be used as the primary means to complete an online or blended course.
    • A webcam may be required. Contact your instructor immediately.
  • A stable broadband Internet connection.
  • A CCBC email account (free when you enroll).
  • Access to Blackboard learning management system for lessons, assignments, class discussions and more.

Blended online with some on-site

A course taught with a combination of online and scheduled on-campus instruction. Social distancing protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment will be utilized for scheduled on-campus instruction. Instruction requires a physical presence on campus, as indicated by the specified scheduled days and times. Portions of this section must be accessed from any location using a computer with internet access and a camera feature. Online portions do not require a physical presence on campus.

On-site

A format in which requirements are completed in-person. Students and instructors meet on-site, in person, with scheduled start and end times: social distancing protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment will be utilized.   

You may be expected to login to Blackboard to access lessons, participate in class discussions and more.

To learn on-site at CCBC you will need:
  • Regular access to a reliable computer desktop, laptop, (etc.).
  • A stable broadband Internet connection.
  • A general understanding of Blackboard learning management system.

Remote online – scheduled time

Instruction is offered remotely during the scheduled days and times indicated (synchronously): a physical presence on-campus attendance is not required. This course must be accessed from any location using a computer with internet access and a camera feature.

To learn in a remote format at CCBC you will need:
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy.
  • Regular access to a reliable computer desktop, laptop, netbook (etc.)
    • Mobile devices cannot use used.
    • Must have a web camera feature.

Simulcast with some on-site

This course meets on-campus with a simultaneous remote component to address social distancing in an alternating A-day/B- day modality. A physical presence on campus is required for some section meeting times. Your faculty member will assign you days and times for required on-campus instruction. This section must be accessed from any location using a computer with internet access and a camera feature.

To learn in a simulcast format at CCBC you will need:
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy.
  • Regular access to a reliable computer desktop, laptop, netbook (etc.)
    • Mobile devices cannot use used.
    • Must have a web camera feature.
  • A stable broadband Internet connection.
  • A CCBC email account (free when you enroll).

Remote lecture with on-site lab

This course combines lecture and lab. Lecture instruction is offered remotely. Laboratory instruction requires a physical presence on campus during the scheduled days and times indicated. The lab portion will utilize appropriate personal protective equipment. The lecture must be accessed from any location using a computer with internet access and a camera feature.

To learn in a lecture/lab format at CCBC you will need:

Lab course on-site

This section is an on-site lab course. The lab will utilize appropriate personal protective equipment. Laboratory instruction requires a physical presence on-site during the scheduled days and times indicated.

  • A stable broadband Internet connection.
  • A general understanding of Blackboard learning management system.

Arranged

This section is designated for Independent Study, Co-Op , Internship, or Arranged Instruction, and may be conducted in a combination of modalities to meet instructional and student needs, including on-site, remote scheduled, or online asynchronous instruction; most experiences require a written contract/agreement.
