World Languages

Learn a new language!

Learning a new language can be an enriching and rewarding experience, and CCBC offers a comprehensive language program designed to meet students at all skill levels. The program is divided into four categories: Getting Started, Basic Level, Intermediate/Advanced, and Conversational.

A short introductory class for those who have no previous experience to get started with the language. This class introduces basic vocabulary and phrases, as well as culture.

Creates a strong foundation in grammar, pronunciation and conversational skills. There are multiple levels of proficiency, many divided into an “A” and “B” level. Different semesters are distinguished by letter - “A”, “B.” Suitable for beginners as well as those with some language experience. Prior to moving to the Intermediate Level, a student should expect to take at least eight to ten basic level courses (about three to four years).

Immersive language classes

Emphasis is increased on speaking, listening, writing and reading comprehension, as well as more subtle aspects of the language. Students remain in the classes for several years, moving up as competency levels are met.

These classes focus on conversational skills geared towards certain professions or everyday life situations. Students should have a strong grasp on grammar and using verbs in proper tenses, and have a broad vocabulary in the world language of choice.
