Apprenticeships

Earn and learn.

Registered trade apprenticeships provide an accelerated career on-ramp.

Our skilled-trades apprenticeship programs are part of a structured training system in which you work full-time during the day for a sponsoring employer learning the skills of the trade, while consecutively completing classroom related instruction and earning college credits upon completion of the program.

Apprentices receive a structured pay scale and incremental wage increases as they become more knowledgeable and skilled on the job. There are both union and non-union apprenticeship programs.

Each apprenticeship offers a specialized program that will take from three to five years to complete, leading to a Journeyperson certificate. For many, there are opportunities to receive the classroom related instruction tuition and fees at no charge, but you may incur some costs for tools, books and materials.

Requirements will vary by trade and apprenticeship, but typically include:

  • be at least 18 years of age,
  • possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency,
  • hold a valid driver license,
  • have reliable transportation to the jobsite and classroom and,
  • be physically able to perform the essential duties of the trade.
