We offer a wide array of training and course work to prepare you for a satisfying career in transportation. In addition to the course areas below, we have developed many other workforce skills-training courses to support the transportation sector.

Commercial Vehicle Operator Courses include:

CDL-A

This six-week, 225-hour course, prepares students to test for a Maryland CDL-A from the MVA. This license qualifies students to operate tractor trailers. Specific endorsements may also be obtained to permit license holders in order to operate tanker trailer vehicles or deliver hazmat loads. Students must hold a valid MD CDL Learner Permit prior to registering for the CDL-A course.

CDL-B

This two-week, 75- hour, course prepares students to test for a Maryland CDL-B from the MVA. This license qualifies students to operate heavy straight trucks (i.e. +26,000 lbs GVW) and passenger buses. A “P” (Passenger) endorsement must be obtained to permit license holders in order to transport passengers commercially. CCBC’s CDL-B training occurs primarily on passenger bus equipment but successful licensees may also operate heavy straight trucks. CCBC does not train to obtain the “S” endorsement required to drive a school bus. Students must hold a valid MD CDL Learner Permit prior to registering for the CDL-B course.

CDL Learner’s Permit Preparation

Completion of this 28-hour course will help students prepare to test for the Maryland MVA’s CDL Learner Permit exam which is required to register in our CDL-A or CDL-B courses.

Diesel Technician

This 300-hour course prepares students for entry into the Diesel Technician career pathway. Also known as Diesel Mechanic training, this course teaches you the skills that operators of tractor trailer, bus or heavy equipment fleets need to help them keep their equipment running and operating safely.
