Institute for Cyber Security

Founded in October 2010, the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Institute for Cyber Security (ICS) was created to coordinate the varying security-related activities taking place within CCBC.

Continuing to build on CCBC's national reputation in the two-year information security education space, the ICS is committed to providing solutions to the national cybersecurity workforce shortage problem by helping shape standardized cyber security curriculum; through cyber exercises, like the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (MA CCDC); and through partnerships with public and private sector organizations seeking to hire CCBC graduates.

CCBC receives national recognition

The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have designated the Community College of Baltimore County as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Systems Security Education (CAE2Y). This designation covers academic years 2011 through 2016. CCBC is one of 13 community colleges nationally (out of approximately 1,200) to receive such a designation.
