Human Services

This program provides students with education and training to prepare them for entry-level positions in human services as well as for transfer to four-year institutions to attain professional degrees.

Graduates of this program can expect to find employment serving a range of client populations including persons with physical and developmental challenges, mental health and substance abuse issues, elderly and vulnerable/at risk children.



Programs

Associate of Applied Sciences
Human Services
Prepares students to effectively express opinions and facts through both oral and written communication; assess and document a client’s current status and apply basic therapeutic techniques; and develop, prioritize, and implement a case management plan to address a client’s issues.

Certificate
Child and Youth Care Practitioner Certificate
Prepares students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to work with at-risk children and adolescents; and exhibit preparedness to work in an entry-level position at a variety of child and youth care agencies.

Elder Care Certificate
Prepares students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to work with the aging population; and exhibit preparedness to work in an entry-level position in a setting serving the aging population.

Human Services Certificate
Prepares students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to work with at-risk children and adolescents and effectively express opinions and facts through both oral and written communication.
