Course Design

The CCBC Essex EMT Program is designed around the U.S. Department of Transportation’s 1999 EMT-Intermediate, and 1998 Paramedic curriculums. The emergency medical services provider education and training program at CCBC Essex uses a variety of teaching strategies—lectures, group discussions, field demonstrations, laboratory demonstrations, simulated practice sessions, and clinical experience. The design goals of the education and training in this course will both develop specific skills and develop general principles of assessment and treatment based on fundamentals of normal anatomy and physiology and of pathophysiological processes. Students will be encouraged to apply the general knowledge and principles presented throughout the program to a broad spectrum of specific patient conditions.
