Course Sequences

Suggested Course Sequence for the AAS Degree or Certificate **

Courses must be taken in sequence as described below:

1.   Students who enter the degree program with no prior college credits or who have not received credit for their General Education requirements elsewhere must complete their General Education requirements before beginning their Business-Science and Mortuary Science (MORS) courses.  These students will be assessed for math and reading skills prior to their first registration and may be required to take preparatory courses in reading and mathematics prior to taking their General Education requirements.

2.   Students who have successfully completed their General Education requirements at CCBC Catonsville or elsewhere will register for the Business-Science courses before beginning their Mortuary Science (MORS) courses.  These must be completed before the student is eligible for any MORS classes.

3.   Students who have successfully completed both their General Education requirements and Business-Science requirements at CCBC Catonsville or elsewhere may then begin the MORS sequences.  These students will begin with MORS 101, 131, and 141 before proceeding with the rest of the MORS courses.

4.   All Business-Science requirements are considered classes within the Mortuary Science Program (ACCT 100 or ACCT 101, CINS 101, MORS 106, BIOL 130, BIOL 245, and BIOL 252).  Therefore, students wishing to enroll in these classes must obtain the signature of Ms. Joyce E. Torchinsky, Mortuary Science Advisor, before registering for these classes.

5.   Course credits from Phase II, Business and Science Requirement, and Phase III, Mortuary Science Requirements, that are older than five years are considered void and must be repeated.  (Five years means five years preceding a student’s eligibility for Phase II classes.)

***   SPECIFIC SCIENCE AND MORTUARY SCIENCE CLASSES HAVE EARLY START TIMES EVERY SEMESTER.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO BE AWARE OF THESE EARLY DATES.
