Program Admission Information
Application Deadlines
Admission into the Practical Nursing Program is yearly, competitive, and
takes place in the spring. A new application must be completed for every
year that one chooses to apply for admission to the program. Completed
applications must be sent to the School of Health Professions Office of
Selective Admissions and received by April 15 for consideration for the
Fall 2007 Class.
Criteria for Consideration for Admission

Admission to The Community College of Baltimore County
-
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
-
Basic mathematics competency: LVM2 or successful completion of MATH
082.

Basic reading competency: LVR2 or successful completion of RDNG 052.
-
English language proficiency: LVE2 or successful completion of ENGL
052 or ESOL 052.
-
Writing proficiency: competency in grammar mechanics and
usage: Eligibility for ENGL 101.
-
Completion of a Pre-Admission Exam (information will be sent after
application is received in the Selective Admissions Office.)
Selection Criteria
Students will be ranked for program admission utilizing specific
criteria. Due to the competitive nature of the selection admissions
process and the academic rigor of this program, it is highly recommended
that all non-nursing courses be completed before applying to the program.

Additional requirements (after admission to the program) for
admission to NURN 103 - Foundation of Nursing Practice:

Completion of the Student Health Profile (CCBC Nursing Physical
Examination form) and required immunizations and/or titres.

Documentation of current CPR (per the American Heart Association
Health Care Provider), including adult, child, infant and choking.

Proof of Health insurance coverage, which must be maintained
throughout the clinical program.

Completion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
requirement. (The College will make provision for students to meet
this requirement.)
Legal Implications
Upon successful completion of the Practical Nursing Program, the
graduate applies to take the National Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN).
Permission to take the NCLEX-PN is established by law and may be granted
only by the Maryland Board of Nursing. The Board may deny a graduate
this permission for a variety of reasons. These include:

Is convicted of or pleads guilty or nolo contende to a felony or
to a crime involving moral turpitude, whether or not any appeal or
other proceeding is pending to have the conviction or plea set
aside.
