Departmental Examinations

CCBC will award credit for successful completion of the Departmental Examinations listed below. The testing formats are varied and may include paper and pencil tests, proficiency exams, product evaluations or a combination of assessment modes. Students are encouraged to consult the appropriate Program Director/Department Chairperson for specific information about the examination requirements.

To take advantage of this option, students should:

  1. consult with Beth Arman, Director of Prior Learning Assessment, to determine the appropriateness of this option;
  2. meet with the appropriate Program Director/Department Chairperson to review examination requirements;
  3. complete the Departmental Examination request form, pay the current assessment fees (50% of the current in-county tuition rate) and make arrangements to complete the exam.

Students will be notified of the results of the examination by the Program Coordinator/Department Chairperson and credits will be transcripted. The transferability and application of those credits to other two year and four year college requirements varies greatly. Students are encouraged to make themselves aware of specific APL policies at other colleges.

For additional information, contact Beth Arman, Director of Prior Learning Assessment, barman@ccbcmd.edu
