Early Childhood Education Scholarship

Funding is available to pursue a college degree in early childhood education, education for children, child development, family studies, or related disciplines. To receive funding through this program, a person must:

  • Work in a licensed child care center or be a registered family child care provider in the State of Maryland
  • Be participating in the credential program
  • Have at least one year of approved experience working with children
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have been accepted into a program of study in a Maryland college or university
  • Commit to completing the full college course of study toward a degree
  • Continue working in child care during the time of study and for a period of time as determined by regulation upon the completion of the degree

Upon funding an award, a recipient is agreeing to:

  • Successfully complete each college course and maintain a minimum 2.75 grade point average
  • Continue employment in the child care field while completing college coursework toward a degree
  • Upon completion of college coursework and the degree, continue employment in the child care field in Maryland
