Program Description:
The
Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing program prepares students
for employment in the collision repair industry. Available occupations
include collision repair technology, paint repair technician, body shop
office personnel, material supplier, sales, glass technician, and
related positions within insurance companies. Skills learned during the
program include: basic skills, sheet metal repair procedures,
estimating, related mechanical and electrical repairs, human relations,
employability skills, safe work practices, and entrepreneurship. An
experienced Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified instructor
delivers all instruction.
Consumers tend to keep their cars longer, and every year more crowd onto
the highways. Both factors create a need for more body and paint repair
technicians. The learning experiences included in the Automotive
Collision Repair and Refinishing program prepare graduates for
certification and employment within local body shops.
Students who choose this curriculum and want to transfer to a four-year
institution should check with the program coordinator and/or an academic
advisor. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as prerequisites
are met. Some courses may be offered in alternate semesters only.
