2010 CCBC College Catalog
Information Systems Management
Associate of Arts (A.A.)
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, goes into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college in the spring 2010 semester (meaning you have not previously successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the degree to 62-64 credits. PLEASE NOTE: If you are new to college and completed one or more credit courses successfully at CCBC in the fall 2009 semester, you are ENCOURAGED but NOT REQUIRED to take ACDV 101 in the spring 2010 semester.
Program Description:
This degree program provides opportunities for students who wish to continue their studies at a four-year institution in fields such as computer science, computer information sciences, or information systems management. Students who choose this curriculum and desire to transfer courses to a four-year institution should talk with the program coordinator and/or an academic advisor.
Since four-year institutions vary in their requirements, it is strongly recommended that students also contact the appropriate department at the intended transfer institution. Program electives can then be selected to meet the requirements of the specific transfer institution. Program requirements listed here generally transfer to four-year institutions for computer science majors. The sequence of courses may be taken full-time or part-time. Courses are offered both day and evening. The required courses in the program assume that the student has a background that includes algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Students who do not meet these requirements can take the required prerequisite courses at CCBC after placement testing.
