Program Description:
This degree is provided for students who changed their major from another program or degree option where they earned 35 or more credits. It does not transfer seamlessly to Maryland four-year institutions offering Teacher Education programs. Students pursuing the A.A. degree option must meet with the CCBC Teacher Education Director or their campus coordinator before registering for classes.
Teacher Education majors are strongly encouraged to take the PRAXIS I Series Core Battery Tests upon completion of the pre-professional education requirements and are required to register for PRAXIS I Series Core Battery Tests prior to participating in EDTR 273: Field-Based Experience. Passing the PRAXIS I Series Core Battery Tests is a requirement for acceptance into most colleges of education. It also is required for Maryland State teacher certification. CCBC offers PRAXIS I Series Core Battery Tests prep courses to help prepare students for the tests.
Elementary Education includes grades 1-6.
