ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Vocational Support Services
Vocational Support Services is a state directed, federally funded grant program that provides additional academic support to CCBC students enrolled in career programs. Eligible students may receive a variety of services including:

  • Career information
  • Computer lab assistance
  • Individualized help in study skills
  • In-class workshops designed to enhance academic success
  • Tutorial assistance

Displaced homemaker and single parent programs
The college offers services at each campus for individuals who are separated, divorced, widowed, or who have a disabled spouse or are single parents (never married with children). Services include career and personal counseling, academic planning, job placement, special workshops and course work. Tuition assistance is available for books, child care and transportation. The Catonsville campus also offers these services to teen single parents.

Project SPARK
This federally funded Student Support Services program assists eligible first-generation, low-income students complete an associate degree and transfer to a four-year college. Services include walk-in counseling and advisement, semester-long weekly tutoring sessions, transfer counseling, cultural events and more. Project START
Project START (Student Transfer and Retention Team) is a comprehensive academic support program designed to help eligible students achieve academic success. It assists students in the achievement of two goals: completion of an associate degree and transfer to a four-year college or university. Services include free tutoring, counseling (academic, career, and personal), financial aid and scholarship application assistance, study skills workshops, cultural enrichment activities, transfer information, preparation and college visits.
