LPN to ADN Transition
Upward Mobility Nursing Program

Application Deadlines:
Admission into the LPN to ADN Transition course is competitive. Selective admission applications should be completed by January 15 for consideration.

Prerequisites for application for advanced placement are Maryland Licensure as an LPN, graduation from a school approved for articulation and/or successfully passing an approved placement exam and minimum of six months of employment as a licensed practical nurse. The student must complete the prerequisite general education requirements listed before admission to the LPN transition course. Before graduation, completing the remaining general education requirements is required.

NOTE:
BIOL 110 may be a prerequisite for BIOL 220. The option to challenge or receive a waiver for BIOL 110 can be requested through the Biology Department. Students planning to enter the nursing program should address this alternative with an academic advisor, case manager, or counselor. 

NOTE: Microbiology (BIOL 230) must be taken prior to NURN 210 or concurrent with NURN 210.

Program Description:

The LPN to ADN Upward Mobility program option offers a unique opportunity for qualified licensed practical nurses to enter the Nursing Program with advanced standing once admission and General Education requirements have been met.

A seven-credit LPN/ADN Transition course is offered to qualified LPNs. An LPN who earns a grade of “C” or higher in this LPN/ADN Transition course and completes General Education prerequisites is able to enter the CCBC Nursing Program with advanced standing and receive academic credit for the first year of the Nursing Program.
