*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the degree to 70 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Description:

The Diesel and Equipment Maintenance Technology program prepares students for employment as service technicians in the transportation and construction industries. Heavy equipment maintenance technicians maintain, repair, and overhaul mobile heavy equipment highway transport vehicles, construction and earth-moving equipment, tractors, and mobile industrial equipment. Job titles include: Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Mechanic; Diesel Technician; Mobile Heavy Equipment Specialist or Mechanic Diesel Truck Specialist; Bus, Truck, Diesel Engine Mechanic and Repairer; and Service Manager.

This program is based on standards developed by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Standards for Construction Equipment Technology developed by the Associated Equipment Distributors.

Students who choose this curriculum and want to transfer to a four-year institution should check with the program coordinator and/or academic advisor. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as prerequisites are met. Some courses may be offered in alternate semesters only.
