Spring 2014 Schedule for Saturday Celestial Shows
All shows are free of charge and no reservations or tickets are required. Shows begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. in LABB-003 (Banneker Planetarium) located in the LABB building on the Catonsville Campus. Spring 2014 Shows:
February 8 - Benjamin Banneker’s Astronomy:
Learn how Benjamin Banneker, a farmer in neighboring Oella, taught himself astronomy, helped survey the boundaries of the District of Columbia and authored almanacs in the 1790s to become the first African American man of science.
March 8 - Adventures Along the Spectrum:
Follow Dr. Photon on an exploration of the various electromagnetic emissions by a broad band of radiating objects in the universe.
April 5 - Space Bunny:
Follow the adventures of an Easter bunny that lives in a space colony and encounters a rogue black hole that transports it to another universe.
May 10 - The Sky:
A Camper’s Canopy: Prepare yourself for viewing celestial sights in the summertime. Learn how to find directions at night and even how to tell time by the Moon.
