Fall 2014 Schedule for Saturday Celestial Shows
All shows are free of charge and no reservations or tickets are required. Shows begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. in LABB-003 (Banneker Planetarium) located in the LABB building on the Catonsville Campus. September 20 - Equinox, a Time of Equality:
View the changes in the sky around the time of the autumnal equinox from Baltimore and from other parts of the world. Find out which constellations and other celestial objects will be visible when Fall begins.
November 1:-Space Witch
Follow Tilly Ipswitch, the Queen of Halloween, and her cat Kit as they zoom past planets and stars in search of children elsewhere in the universe.
November 22: - An Astronomical Autumn:
Presents the changes in the sky as the Sun appears to fall below the celestial equator at the autumnal equinox to its lowest position at the winter solstice. Along the way the Moon goes through its phases and planets move through their configurations. Viewers will see constellations in both the early and the late nighttime skies.
December 6:- Christmas Story:
Hear the Biblical account of the Christmas star and then learn about possible astronomical explanations and how they tie into the attempts to estimate the dating of Jesus' birth.
