THE 1960s
|
|
Richard T. Webb '66 (Business) is President and CEO at Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union. Rick, who was SGA president in '66, transferred to the University of Maryland and received his B.S. in Business. He is active in various boards and the Boy Scouts, and teaches courses for Baltimore County Public Schools' Academy of Finance and Junior Achievement. Rick is the father of a grown daughter who teaches in Philadelphia, Pa., and a teenage son with aspirations to attend the Naval Academy. He is married to Charyl L. Dayton, president of Visions International. He lives in Parkton, Md. with retirement in sight.

Vincent C. Pecora '69 (Business Administration) earned his B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore. Vince has served as director of Financial Aid at Towson University since 1997, after having spent 24 years in a variety of student services positions at CCBC. Vince has been involved on several volunteer boards in Baltimore County and now is a member of the Board of Directors for the CCBC Foundation. Vince and his wife, Judy, live in Perry Hall, Md. and are the parents of two children.

Janet Windsor Haley '70 retired from CCBC Essex after more than 38 years. She met Sal, her husband, at then - Essex Community College at its original site, and they later held hands at the groundbreaking for the current Rossville Boulevard campus. Janet and Sal are the parents of Kristina Haley-Class (see 1990's) and grand-parents to Cameron Hunter. Janet celebrated 40 years of continuous service to the Essex alumni association and served as president for many years. Janet looks forward to taking classes in her retirement.

Karen Hellen '72 (Education) attended Towson University and College of Notre Dame and received her B.A. She works as a teacher for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Karen and her husband, Bill, raised four children, have four grandchildren and live in Baltimore, Md.

Alvin J. Zumbrun Jr. '72 (Police Administration) is an assistant professor for Criminal Justice Studies at CCBC. Alvin (Jay) lives in Sykesville, Md.

Cecilia Greul Coliton '72 (Correctional Services) is employed at Montgomery College as a space planning analyst. Ceil and John, her husband, live in Olney, Md.

Dale D. Davis '74 (Business) and Catherine Davis '79 (Accounting) live in Forest Hill, Md. and are the parents of a grown son, Max. Dale is an agent for Nationwide Insurance and Catherine works as a CPA for Bishop & Adkins, PA. Congratulations to Dale and Catherine, who recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Ellen Godman Hoffman '76 (Data Processing Technology) retired in 2006 from McCormick & Co., Inc. after 37 years in IT. She and Bob, her husband, live in Catonsville, Md., and are the parents of two children, Robert Jr., 22, and Laura, 21. Ellen enjoys spending her spare time in Ocean City, Md.

John J. Scharf '76 (Business Administration) is owner and president of Baltimore County Metropolitan Insurance & Bail Bonds, Inc., a business he founded in 1998. In 2006, John received the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce Chamber Service Award for service to the chamber and the areas it serves. The Community College of Baltimore County Foundation recently appointed John to its board of trustees.

Katherine Mary Ehrman '78 (General Studies) attended Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., where she took veterinary technician courses. Throughout the years, "Kit" has worked in the horse industry in Maryland and Pennsylvania, until she began her writing career in 2002. Her latest book, Triple Cross (fourth in a mystery series), was named the 2007 Best Book of Indiana and has received other prestigious writing awards. Kit and her husband live in Columbus, Ind. with their teenage sons.

Richard L. Barnett '80 (Business Management) is an operations specialist for CCBC in the Essex campus bookstore. After receiving his A.A. degree, Rich graduated from the University of Baltimore in 1982, and since 2003 he has been the staff member/writer for the Middle Atlantic College Stores newsletter. He also is a CWA Local 2111 representative to the CCBC Senate. Richard lives in Belcamp, Md.

Lynn MacLaughlin '81 (General Studies) has received her B.A. from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Human Services Administration. Lynn is director of Records and Registration at CCBC and has been employed by the college for 33 years. Lynn and her husband, Ken (a faculty member at CCBC), are the parents of Kristen, a 2007 graduate of CCBC's Criminal Justice program.

Craig Dennard Hudson '83 (Recreation) received his B.S. degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park and now works as a transportation security officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/TSA. Craig and his wife, Etta, have two children, Caren (13) and Cory (8), and they live in Baltimore, Md. Craig's hobbies include computers, reading and sports.

Dawn Haslup Colt '84 (Psychology), worked from 1984 through 1994 as an occupational medical assistant, then in OB/GYN fertility at the University of Maryland. Dawn now works in the field of construction as a construction/project manager employed by Jacobs, Inc. Dawn's extracurricular activities in college included orientations and tutoring, but now they involve family, travel, arts and music. She and her husband, John (Kelly) live in Columbia, Md.

David A. Malkus '85 (General Studies) retired as an arson investigator for the Baltimore County Fire Department in 2004 and says he's enjoying life. Dave is married to Margaret and they are the parents of a grown daughter and son, and a "wonderful" 5-year-old granddaughter, Brianna. In his spare time, Dave likes to fish and hunt. He lives in Dundalk, Md.

Arthur Campbell '85 (Business Management) works for the State of Maryland at Towson and lives in Catonsville, Md. Arthur is the father of two sons, Dustin and Ian.

Lisa Kryglix-Blake '85 (General Studies) received her B.A. from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and has been a teacher for 18 years. Currently Lisa teaches fourth grade at Archbishop Borders School. Her hobbies include antiquing, flea marketing, gardening, reading, crafts and church activities. Lisa and her daughter, Catherine, live in Baltimore, Md.

Lisa Rene' Scott '85 (General Studies) is owner/operator of The Model Connection, Inc., a regional casting and modeling agency. Lisa also is the host of an arts and entertainment radio show on WCBM 680, and she works actively with many non-profit organizations as a volunteer and board member. In 2006, Lisa welcomed her daughter, Liliana Rene, from Guatemala. Lisa says that being a mom is the most rewarding job of all.

Katherine Wimbley Yates '86 (Information Systems) is job development manager for The Workforce Center at Sojourner Douglass College. She owns N.M. Marketing & Communications, a training and marketing consulting firm. Katherine and her husband, Tyrone, live in Baltimore, Md. and are the parents of Tyeaz Emmanual Yates.

Paul A. Sichau '86 (HVAC) works as Mechanical Systems Specialist for Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Md. Prior to his 30-year career in HVAC, Paul served four years active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard as an electrician's mate. He holds many certifications in his field and has taught classes in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and electricity. Paul is married to Janet, and they are the parents of Eric and Luke. Paul and his family live in Berlin, Md.

Michael J. Kendzejeski '89 (Computer Technology) attended Johns Hopkins University. Michael is a combat Vietnam veteran who served there 1969 - 1970. He is now employed as director of I.D. Card Services at JHU and lives in Dundalk, Md. Michael is a drummer who occasionally is called to perform for weekend activities.

Denise Jeandell '91 (Physician Assistant) is employed at Union Hospital of Cecil County since 1994, first in the Emergency Department, now in Occupational Medicine. Denise and her husband, Doug, have four beautiful daughters, Emily, Stephanie, Allie, and Lizzi, and live in Earleville, Md. She plays the flute in her church choir and for weddings and other special events, and was featured on the choir CD recorded last summer. Denise says "hello" to all her PA Class of '91 classmates.

Samone Schoolcraft Angel '92 (Photography) is employed by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as a health insurance specialist. Samone and her husband, Jeff, are the proud parents of Brooke Margaret and live in Arbutus, Md. Samone's hobbies include scrapbooking and dancing.

Brian A. Willem '92 (Mortuary Science) works as a mortician for Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc. Brian completed his certification as a certified disaster responder in April 2007, is a certified grief counselor, a member of the government's Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team and the Maryland State Funeral Director's Association Disaster Response Team. He is currently working toward a combined BS/MS degree in Pastoral Thanatology. He was deployed to Biloxi, Mississippi, for hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Brian is engaged to Linda Gray and is the father of a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Natalie.

Kristina Haley-Class '92 received a bachelor's degree from Towson and a master's equivalence from Johns Hopkins University. Kristina teaches pre-kindergarten at Campfield Elementary School in Randallstown, Md. in a program that helps children with special needs, or where English is not their primary language prepare for kindergarten. Kristina and her husband, Chris, and son, Cameron, live in Harford County.

Tim Crough '97 (General Studies) works for Chambers Mechanical and is helping to install a new boiler room at Catonsville Middle School. He says he's still playing baseball and now plays with the Baltimore Baseball League, one of the last wooden bat leagues around Maryland. Tim lives in Arbutus, Md. and bought a house in October 2006.

Julia Johnson '98 (Computer Science) is employed as a claims adjuster at the Agency Insurance Co. of Maryland. Julia lives in Elkridge, Md. and in her spare time enjoys art, reading and tennis.

Phyllis Hendricks Curtis '00 (General Studies) is semi-retired and lives with her husband, Ernest, in southwest Baltimore, Md. She says her education at CCBC was rich with encouragement, hope and unseen possibilities. Since graduation, Phyllis has become a lung cancer survivor and hopes to pursue her bachelor's degree this fall with a special interest in computer graphic design. She says, "Thank you, CCBC."

Sandra Harney '02 (History) obtained her B.A. magna cum laude, at the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2005. Sandra is semi-retired after working for Maryland Public Television for 28 years. She is proud to have received her college degrees as an older adult who was working and taking classes part time. Sandra's hobbies include reading, walking and gardening. She and her husband, Michael, are the parent of two daughters, Lee and Valerie, and have three granddaughters, Kayla, Kaitlyn Sarah and Chloe. They live in Baltimore, Md.

Irvin Engle '99, '05, '06 (A.A. Psychology, A.S. Multi Media, A.S. S.D.E.) is currently attending Towson University with a B.S. in Psychology '06, pursuant to a master's degree. His personal interests include computers, art, music, video, theater, photography, DJ, VJ, KJ entertainment. Irv says his major accomplishments are his degrees, a life achievement award he received in 1999 and making the national dean's list in '05 and '06. He also received certificates in Instructional Multimedia, Classroom Multimedia Specialist, Web Development Specialist and Multimedia Specialist. Irv lives in Nottingham, Md.

Chanel Trussell '02 (Accounting) obtained her B.S in accounting from Strayer University '04 and is currently pursuing her MBA with concentration in Management. Chanel is assistant controller in the Finance department of CCBC. Chanel lives in Owings Mills, Md.

Richard C. Dean '05 (Business Administration) is employed as an office clerk by the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. Richard has stated that he is proud to be an alumnus of CCBC and is currently attending the University of Baltimore. Richard is the father of three children and a grandfather of a little girl born in November 2005. He married Tammy Wright-Dean in August 2006.

Tonya Jackson '05 (Biology) is employed by the Maryland Science Center as Bodylink/Wetlab assistant manager. Tonya will be graduating from UMBC with a B.A. degree in December 2007 and lives in Bel Air, Md.

John F. Holmes '05 (Mortuary Science) is a licensed funeral director for Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Md. John is the father of Rebecca (14) and John David (11), and became a newlywed in October 2006 with he married Brandee, also a Mortuary Science grad in '07. He is interested in establishing a Mortuary Science alumni group.

Robin B. Anderson '06 (Massage Therapy) recently received the 2007 Bronze award in the Massage Therapy Foundation's Student Case Report contest. Robin earlier earned a B.A. from the University of Maryland College Park, Personal Trainer certification from the American Council on Exercise, and Cancer Exercise Specialist certification from Leading Edge Fitness. She is nationally (NCTMB) and State (Maryland Board of Chiropractic Examiners) certified. She recently opened a private therapeutic massage practice at The Oasis at Ladies Total Fitness in Bel Air, Md. Robin has been married to Justin for 14 years, and they have an eighth grade daughter, Shelby, who is a national baton twirling champion. The family lives in Abingdon, Md.
