Solar Power Professional and Wind Energy Professional

New for summer are two course series that will present information on the cutting-edge technologies of wind and solar energy: Solar Power Professional and Wind Energy Professional. Listed here are the prerequisites and computer requirement that apply to both areas of training.

PREREQUISITES:
• Knowledge of keyboarding (typing)
• Using computer programs
• A good command of English grammar and punctuation

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS:
• High speed internet is recommended
• Must be compatible with Windows XP and later operating systems; and with IE7 and later browsers
• Must have latest version of Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader AOL, MSN Opera, Safari, and Camino browsers are not supported

Solar Power Professional
Continuing Education Certificate

This is a two-part, online course series that includes parts A and B for a total of 120 hours of training.  The student has an initial three (3) months to complete the course series. If additional time is needed for completion, an extension of three (3) additional months is available for a cost of $175. 

No refund will be given after the student has been given access to the program.

GREEN MANUFACTURING
CONTINUING EDUCATION CERTIFICATE


Take this 212 hours of training to earn a Green Manufacturing Continuing Education Certificate. To earn the certificate, you must take all 8 courses in the training series. If you take classes for 16 hours/week, it will take less than 4 months to complete the series. Training will be offered in different time slots and different locations over time.

The cost for in-county students is $1,765.
Funding may be available through the Maryland Energy Sector Partnership grant (US Department of Labor); contact your local workforce development office or one-stop center to see if you qualify.

Measurement, Materials, and Safety I

Gain an understanding of the basic elements of measuring devices, referencing material needs, and safety essential to completing machining projects and operating equipment (manual lathe, mill, and surface grinder) properly. Topics to be covered include using machining tool handbooks, chart, and tables, demonstrating the use and care of measuring instruments, safety guidelines for shop work, and measuring and cutting stock.

Learn the basic graphic elements and symbols used in a variety of industrial drawings. Technical prints covered include machine, sheet metal, hydraulic and pneumatic, piping and plumbing system drawings, and drawings representing electrical systems. Sketching concepts are also presented to aid in understanding basic drawing principals. Recognize standard features in schematics, and read and interpret symbols used in this field.
