Introductory Ceramics $105, $70 seniors
Students can learn hand-building techniques and wheel-throwing instruction including types and uses of clay, pinch pot and their use in creating sculptural forms, coiling, slab construction, an introduction to wheel techniques, decorating, glazing, and intaglio, ending in a class project. Course cost includes materials.

Explore ceramic materials and processes emphasizing development of hand building techniques and an introduction to the potter’s wheel. Understand more about clay, glazes and kilns. This class is also offered for credit as ARTS 150. Supply list given in first session.

Hand-building Techniques with Clay $59, $59 seniors
When was the last time you played in the mud? This course is designed to introduce hand-building techniques with low-fire (earthenware) clay. A variety of techniques, including pinching and coiling, as well as types of clay and finishing techniques, are included. Materials fee up to $35 due first class.
